It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jimmy Dearl Ashton of Montalba, Texas, born in Athens, Texas, who passed away on January 23, 2025, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Jimmy Stewart Ashton and Rachel Everine Ashton (Griggs); his daughter Jessica Rios; and his sisters, Alma Ashton and Faye Ashton.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Ashton of Montabla; his children, Alma Ashton of Athens, Melinda Lee of Athens and William Wayne Ashton of Athens; and his siblings, Johnny Ashton of Athens, Joanne Kuykendall of Athens and Marilyn Arnold (James) of Athens. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation was held on Sunday, January 26th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Chapel (842 NE Loop 7, Athens, TX 75752). A funeral service was held on Sunday, January 26th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
