He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Don Jr. and Pauline Dickson (Serafine); his brothers, Paul Dickson and Joe Don Dickson III; and his granddaughter Andrea Dickson.

He is survived by: his children, Todd Dickson of Montague and Brooke Zimmerman of Karnes City, TX; and his grandchildren, Samantha Dickson, Danielle Dickson, Kaitlyn Zimmerman, Zoey Zimmerman and Cameron Agnes. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
