He was predeceased by: his parents, Ramona Hernandez and Miguel Hernandez; his wife Ruth Samaniego Marquez; his brothers, Enrique Hernandez (Henry) and Israel Hernandez (Ray); and his close friend Gloria Carrasco.
He is survived by: his brother Ruben M.; his sister-in-law Margarita Hernandez of Odessa; his son Richard Lee; his daughter-in-law Elizabeth Hatchett Hernandez; and his grandchildren, Valerie Marie Hernandez, Christopher Eliot Hernandez and Jacqueline Rene Amaya.
