She was predeceased by: her husband Theddis; and her sons, Joske, Jamie and Justin. She is survived by: her parents, James H. Shade, Sr. and Julia Marguerite Mills Shade; her children, Jamarcus Coney (Daphne) of Missouri City, TX and Julia Coney Walters (Donald) of Hyattsville, MD; and her siblings, Gene Shade (Linda) of Nashville, TN, Othella Anderson of Houston, TX, Gloria Prescott (Thurman) of Durham, N. C. and Parthenia Douglas-Beal of Leesville, LA. She is also survived by grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.
