He was predeceased by: his parents, Manuel Cardenas and Agueda Cardenas; and his children, Oscar Cardenas, Jr. and Maria Teresa "Terry" Cano. He is survived by: his wife Maria Luisa Cardenas; his daughter Janie Hernandez; his sons-in-law, Marco A. Hernandez (Linda Hinojosa) of Austin, TX and Javier Hinojosa (Veronica Cardenas) of San Juan, TX; his son Sergio Cardenas; his daughters-in-law, Monica Cardenas (Amado Cardenas) of Mission, TX and Cathy Cardenas of Sharyland, TX.; and his siblings, Raquel Estrada, Alfonso and Lazaro Cardenas. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
