He was predeceased by: his siblings, Rodrigo Cantú (Rigo), Lydia Rendon (Lile), Peter Michael Alaniz (Mike), Mercedes Cantú (Meche), Maria Elisa Rocha (Maria Lisa), Octaviano Cantú (Chicho), Norma Linda Cantú Hernández and Angela Cantu (Quela).

He is survived by: his significant other Ana Maria Cavazos; his children, Mary Ann Cordoba, Maxine Wenzel (Troy), Marla Goulis (Alex) and Mariano Alaniz III; his siblings, Antonio Cantu Jr. (Borrado), Enedina Cantu (Nina), Martina Mata (Tia Chata), Guadalupe Cantú (Tobi), Rebekah Haevischer (Becky) and Sandra Perales; and his grandchildren, Mark Anthony Alaniz, Ariel Marie Cordoba, Carlie Alaniz, Casidi Alaniz, Alexandrea Alaniz, Luis Tomas Rios, Christian Lucas Cordoba, Sydney Ann Cordoba, Gabriel Elijah Goulis, Leonidas Stephen Goulis, Charlize Alaniz and Mariano Alaniz (Baby Jay). He is also survived by 5 great grandchildren.
