He was predeceased by: his parents, Juan Leal and Maria Leal; and his siblings, Maria Luisa Garcia, Juan Leal V and Juan Leal IV.
He is survived by: his wife Nelda E. Leal; his children, Jessica Danielle Leal-Porras (Francisco Javier) and Daniel Anthony Leal (Blanca); his grandchildren, Alexa Danielle Porras, Andrew Xavier Porras, Adrian Joaquin Porras, Angelina Rose Leal, Allie Nicole Leal and Ryan Daniel Leal; and his brother Dr. Gilberto Leal (Norma) of Harlingen.
