She was loved and cherished by many people including: her former husbands, Melvin Godwin and John Marshall Cathey; her parents, Dr. A. O. Cowan and Connie Mae Tharp Cowan; her son Stephen Godwin; her siblings, George Cowan, Connie Horton and Joan Wisdom; her husband Dean Johnston; her sister Patricia Masset of Tyler; her children, Kim Douglas (Coy) of Edom, Jesse Godwin of Ben Wheeler and Connie Cobbs (Steve) of Mineola; her grandchildren, Polly Jones (Nelson), Allison Godwin, Chris Largent (Jana), George Crenshaw, Samuel Lowe and Nancy Godwin; and her great grandchildren, Weston Keith, Langston Crenshaw and Elliott Godwin.
