He was predeceased by: his wife Patsy Slaton; his son Tommy Slaton; his parents, Tom Slaton and Ruth Slaton; and his brother Jim Slaton.
He is survived by: his children, Kay Earle (Randy) and Steven Slaton; his grandchildren, Kristopher Vernon (Kristin), Amanda Williamson (Jordan) and Perry Slaton; and his great grandchildren, Karson, Knox Vernon, Ivy, Wes Williamson, Nora and Lorelai Slaton.
