He was predeceased by: his parents, Milford Surface and Margurite Surface (Schmeik); his former wife Mary Surface; his wife Jan Surface; his grandsons, Jason Wright and Jason Estep; and his siblings, Mel Surface, Robert Surface, Anna Lee Long and Ethel Marie Corbett.
He is survived by: his children, Sherolyn King (Charles) of Livingston, Leah Hester (Larry) of Waxahachie, Donna Tucker Wright of Livingston, Jimmy Surface of Livingston, Richard Deane Surface (Karen) of Roseville, David Tucker of Livingston, Paul Tucker (Donna) of Livingston and Phillip Tucker (Angela) of Livingston; his brother Clarence Surface (Samona); and his sister-in-law Linda Surface. He is also survived by thirty-eight grandchildren, thirty-four great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
