She was predeceased by: her parents, James William Elrod and Lorine Mann Elrod; her spouse Dale Slaughter Hankin; and her siblings, James "Bud" Elrod and Donna Jones.
She is survived by: her daughters, Stephanie Gilmore (Benjamin), Karen Hurst (Terry) and Jennifer Mitchell; and her brother Michael Elrod of Yuma, Arizona. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.
