She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Dario Lugo and Soledad Guerrero Lugo; her sons, Ricardo Vela and Oscar Vela; her brothers, Carlos and Pedro Lugo; her husband Gilbrto Vela Sr.; and her son Gilberto Vela Jr.. She was also cherished by numerous grandchildren, greatgranchildren, nieces and nephews.
