He is survived by: his mother Elida Garza; his wife Fatima Gonzalez Garza; his sisters, Sylvia Benefiel (Jeff) and Cynthia Fleitman (Wayne); and his nieces and nephews, Ethan Benefiel, Dax Fleitman (Jessica), Dean Fleitman (Beth), Briley Bezner (Nick), Brenna Fleitman, Heidi Fleitman and Eadie Fleitman.

Robert embraced his community by sponsoring countless local youth sports teams and donated to numerous charities and organizations.
