With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Max Milburn Matthews of McAllen, Texas, born in Mount Vernon, Illinois, who passed away on August 23, 2023 at the age of 95. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Max Milburn Matthews to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his parents, George Veltha Matthews and Faye Alice Wilkey; and his former wives, Daisy Matthews and Marilyn Matthews. He is survived by: his wife Kathy Ellithorpe Matthews; his daughter Lynn of Kansas City, MO; his grandsons, Aaron Matthews of McAllen, TX and Austin Matthews (Sarah); his great grandchild Claire of Round Rock, TX.; his stepchildren, Russell (Sharon), Kris Ann (Terry), Scott Ft (Sheila) of Mission, TX, Greg Tatum (Trish), Ann Basta of Lakeville, MN, Marie Ellithorpe of Missouri Valley, IA and Charlie Ellithorpe of Denver, IA.; his cousin Dora Ann Stuck of Oakridge, TX.; and also Ashley Wren (Chris) of Westminster, Colorado.. He is also survived by family members and friends.

Max's wishes were that in lieu of flowers, any memorials be given to the Alzheimer's Research Association: https://donate.brightfocus.org.
