He was predeceased by: his parents, Petra Zambrano and Gregorio Hinojosa. He is survived by: his wife Irma G. Hinojosa; his children, Irma Zuniga (Orlando), Jose Hinojosa (Lori), Luis Hinojosa (Monica Guerra), Ana Hinojosa Santi (Alan) and Joanna Aguirre (Mike); his grandchildren, Christian Zuniga, Ivan Zuniga, Elena Hinojosa, Leyla Hinojosa, Viviana Hinojosa, Jace Aguirre and Hazel Aguirre; and his great grandchildren, Mila Zuniga and Roman Zuniga.
