He is survived by: his wife Olga Guerra De Leon; his children, Joel Jr. (Betty), Javier (Luisa), Jaime (Martha), Richard (Priscilla) and Yvette De Leon Cantu; his grandchildren, Monica (Hiram), Joey (Jennifer), Javi, Melissa (Patrick), Larissa, Jaime Jr., Jacquelyn, Douglas, Katherine and Nicholas; and his siblings, Ruben De Leon, Bertha Garcia, Maria, Carmen Heckman, Amelia Moino, Rebecca DeLeon and Imelda Horne. He is also survived by four great grandchildren.
