He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Waters and Maude Bess Hughes (McMeans); his wife Patricia Scheberle; his in-laws, Martin and Helen Scheberle; his brother Henry; and his sister-in-law Nancy Hughes.
He is survived by: his sons, H. Scott Hughes, Jr. of Brenham, Kelley Hughes (Dana Hughes) of Katy and O'Brien Hughes (Lori Hughes) of The Woodlands; and his grandchildren, Grant Hughes, Lillian Hughes, Pierce Hughes and Liam Hughes. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, as well as other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be sent in his honor to St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 2310 Airline Drive, Brenham, TX 77833.
