He is survived by: his grandmother Rosa Perez (Ada Perez) of Edinburg; his sons, Andrew Vela, Christian, Nicholas and Zachary; his granddaughters, Aria Jade Vela and Narah Genovieve Perez; his mother Maria Luisa Navarro (Miguel); and his siblings, Marco Antonio Perez (Claudia), Juan "Johnny" Perez, Jesse Perez and Myra Jean Navarro (Michael).
