He was predeceased by: his son Roy Cole; and his parents, John Henry Cato Sr. and Beatrice Smith Cato. He is survived by: his daughter Denise Cato; his sister Gwendolyn (Lyn); his daughter Marcia (Courtney); his grandchildren, Shakeitha Jones, Tuareaan Stovall (Brenden), Tielar Richard, Bailey Richard and Daniel Cato; his great grandchildren, Jada Stovall, Avion Stovall and Brenden Stovall, Jr.; and his friend Fredrick Alford (Sarge).
