She was predeceased by: her parents, Charlie Stokes and Ola Arrant; her husband John Newman; and her daughters, Joy Newman and Judy Stark.

She is survived by: her brother Jerry Arrant; and her sons, David Newman (Nancy) and Jimmy Newman. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
