He was predeceased by: his parents, Carroll William and Willie Staples; his wife Katherine Staples; his son Eugene Staples; his granddaughter Brandie Jo Staples Lockwood; and his siblings, Jack Staples, C. W. Staples, Jr. of Nelson Staples, J. C, Gene Staples, Mead Staples and June.
He is survived by: his son Thomas J. Staples (Tonie); his grandchildren, Brandon Robertson, Gary Staples, Shelby Rae Staples, Cassity A. Fulton, Cassie R. Ellis, Ashley Bazemore, Nicholas T. Spottedbear and Sarah C. Spottedbear; and his sister Regina Nesbitt (Marla Stanley). He is also survived by 13 greatgrandchildren.
