He was predeceased by: his parents, Adolphus Sawyer and Annie Sawyer (Ballew); his wife Winona Elizabeth Bunch; his brothers, Robert Howard Sawyer and Jim Dixon; and his great grandchild Seth McCarty.
He is survived by: his children, Liz Mathews (Larry), Galen Sawyer (Suzan) and Charlotte McMillan (Ward); his grandchildren, Rachel Battaglia (Raymond), Brad Hooper (Cindy), Andi Allen (Byron), Belinda McCarty (Harold) and John Sawyer; his great grandchildren, Tyler Radwin, Brandon Hooper, Lauren Hooper, Drake McCarty, MiKayla McCarty, Jay Brooks, Wyatt Sawyer, Edward Sawyer, Garrett Stith and Alex Allen; and his siblings, Hazel Redman, Johnnie Adams and Buzz Sawyer (Jan). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
