He was predeceased by: his parents, William Woodlee Butler and Effie Cornelia Smith Butler; and his siblings, Leon Butler, Oscar Butler, Logan Barbary, Jr. and Verlie Askew.
He is survived by: his wife Theresa Butler of Marshall; his children, Daniel Butler (Heather) of Bowie, TX, Patty Lambeth (Donald) of Chesapeake, VA, Tisha Callahan (Rickey) of Hallsville, TX and Danyall Underwood (Rockey) of Marshall, TX; his grandchildren, Wayne Hunt, Christy Jones (T. E.), McKenzie Mayfield, Chevy Underwood, Ryleigh Underwood, Gemma Davis, Cash Callahan, Aubrey Jones and Lincoln Callahan; and his sisters, Linda, Minnie, Sandy and Brenda (Jerry). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent in his name to the Nesbitt or Woodlawn Fire Departments in Gene's honor.
