He was predeceased by: his parents, C. D. Stegall and Lillie McDonald; and his sister Mary Alice Carter. He is survived by: his wife Jean Stegall; his children, Jerry Stegall (Glenda), Teresa Stegall Beckett and Cathy Preston (Larry); and his brother Lester Stegall (Patsy). He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that any donations be made to the Elks Lodge of Marshall, Texas.
