He was predeceased by: his wife Rhonda Afinowicz Downes of Marlin. He is survived by: his parents, Claude Downes Jr. and Shirley Rodgers Downes of Odds, Texas; his son Colby Downes (Jennifer) of Hewitt; his stepchildren, Brian Messman of Waco, Texas and Kelly Flaugher (David) of Port Orchard, Washington; and his siblings, Gayland Downes (Kathy) of Hallsburg, Texas, Greg Downes (Carla) of Odds, Nora Downes Hunter (Randy) of Kosse and Nancy Downes Dennis of Criswell. He is also survived by cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Adams Funeral Home (129 Coleman St, Marlin, TX 76661). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 at the Criswell Cemetery.
