He was predeceased by: his wife Helen; his parents, John Henry and Iris Hays Shaffer; and his siblings, Wendell Shaffer and Maxine Hemenway.
He is survived by: his son Mike Shaffer (Julie Shaffer); his grandchildren, Dustin Shaffer of Marble Falls, Tanner Shaffer of Marble Falls and Casey Junek (Dustin Junek) of Houston; and his sister Johnette Rhea Fischer of Longview. He is also survived by his friend and companion for many years, Faye Weber as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
