Frank Anthony Vanecek Jr. Obituary
Frank Anthony Vanecek Jr., 81, passed peacefully at his home in Marble Falls, Texas, in the morning on the 18th day of August, 2023. Frank was born on the 25th of September, 1941, to the late Frank A. Vanecek Sr. and Martha Brezina Vanecek in Beeville, Texas. He was a true leader in every way as a spouse and as a father until the end. Frank married Barbara Jane Hickl on the 24th of April, 1971, and raised one daughter, Amy Vanecek Camacho, and one son, Russell Frank Vanecek, in the city of Edna, Texas.
In the words of his sister, “Frank had some things he wanted to accomplish and he set out to do them.” Frank graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Texas, studied law at the University of Houston, and served during the Vietnam War as a United States Navy Commanding Officer on the USS Enterprise, the first US Navy nuclear-powered aircraft carrier located in California at its home port at Naval Station San Diego. Frank later owned and operated the Edna Cleaners and Laundry for over a decade. He was elected and served as the Justice of the Peace in Jackson County for two terms. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, KJZT, and KJT Czech catholic unions. Frank was passionate about spending time with family and friends, including a good game of dominoes, fishing and floundering, and spending time at the bay house. He enjoyed his retirement years with Barbara following his grandkids recreation and sports including volleyball, swimming, and baseball along with his own, watching Texas Longhorn Network and, we cannot forget FOX news.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Vanecek, daughter Amy and husband Ruben of Allen, son Russell and wife Carrie of Dripping Springs, and 6 grandchildren Ava, Isabella, Gavin, and Aidan Camacho, and Luke and Riley Vanecek; sister Elizabeth Vanecek Ayres and husband Dave of Plano; sister-in-law Rose Ricciardi Vanecek of Sinton; and his many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his loving son Anthony John Vanecek, his brother Anton Ernest Vanecek, and sister Bridget Vanecek Marcak and husband David Joseph Marcak. To honor Frank’s request, his catholic service will be private once his cremains are returned. The family thanks all of those that have reached out for the heart-felt condolences. We truly appreciate the warm words of comfort during this very difficult time. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Texas Children’s Hospital for Charity Care in Frank’s name.
