He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Charles Allen and Alice Elizabeth Allen (Rucker). He is survived by: his son Austin Howard of Austin, Texas; his sisters, Wanza Grantier (Brooks) of Marshall, Michigan and Mary Jane Phelps (Mark) of Kingwood, Texas; and his former wife Karin Natowitz. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center or a charity of choice.
