He was predeceased by: his parents, William Shackelford and Marjorie Shackelford; and his brothers, Bunky Rutledge and Lee Roy Rutledge. He is survived by: his wife Isabel; his nieces and nephews, Jon Rutledge of Midland, Roy Rutledge of Monahans, Karen Austin of Lubbock and Patsy Rutledge of Midland; and his stepchildren, Macky McGuire, Eric McGuire of Laredo, Joel McGuire of Burnett and Roxie McGuire of Marathon, Texas..

A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Marathon Cemetery.
