He was predeceased by: his parent Edwin Volhard; and his siblings, Delores Blume and Edwin Volhard Jr.. He is survived by: his parent Anna Volhard (Gassner); his wife Ruth Volhard; his son David Volhard; his grandchildren, Julie Volhard, Joshua Volhard, Nicholas Volhard and Sarah Volhard; and his sisters, MaryAnn Seliger and Angeline Hall (Ralph).
