He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Carpenter and Billie Carpenter (Clark). He is survived by: his wife Rita Hunter; his daughters, Christy Parks (Chris) of Pearland and Sheila Gaddis of Pearland; his grandchildren, Abby Gaddis, Mallory Gaddis, Hunter Parks and Hannah Parks; and his sister-in-law Stephanie Praytor.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association in his honor.
