He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Jack Collins and Linnie Mae Collins; and his stepson Richard Ian Ramirez. He is survived by: his wife Lupe Deaton; his children, Amanda (Michael Webb), Kim (Ed Cross) and Keith Deaton; his grandchildren, Alyssa Cross, Riley (Whitney Webb), Ryan Webb and Joseph Allison Mitchum III (Trey); his great grandchildren, Shevy Mitchum and Allison Mitchum; and his siblings, Pam Schultz (Jerry Schultz), Terri Collins, Sandra Collins and Randy Collins. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 7th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Blessing Funeral Home (401 Elm St, Mansfield, TX 76063). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at 5950 S Collins St, Arlington, TX 76018.

Regardless of our age difference, the best way I can put it, Preston was Preston to me. He knew how to talk to a kid. A true friend. I will miss seeing your white truck drive by and our chats. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.”
