It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Stella Matlock of Manor, Texas, born in Austin, Texas, who passed away on January 15, 2023, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Jimmy W. Matlock; her parents, Rita Marciel and Lorenzo Marciel; and her siblings, Felicitas Gonzales, Elodia Rodriguez, Tony Marciel, Ruben Marciel, Nellie Reyes, Lorenzo Marciel, Jr. and Rudolph Marciel.
She is survived by: her sons, Christopher and Rene Macias; and her siblings, Robert (Rosie), Olivia and Mary. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
She was in the Coming-of-Age Volunteer Program (formerly RSVP) for several years. Prior to Covid, she would turn on the Wii games and compete against other members in bowling; she also played a mean game of dominoes.
Stella worked for the University of Texas for many years and then she moved on to work at the American Cancer Society until her retirement.
