He was predeceased by: his parents, Leon Eugene Hooter and Lodie Tallulah Anderson; his wife Freddie Mae Hooter; his son Frederick E. Hooter; his stepfather Tom Cox; his siblings, Hobart "Rusty" Hooter, Kay Schultz, Beth Brymer, Billie Stanley and Melba Parkison; his sister-in-law Clara Watts; and his grandson Cory Lee Hooter.
He is survived by: his children, Joseph L. Hooter (Lisa) of Boerne, Texas and Paula A Cobb of Somerset, Texas; his daughter-in-law Mae Beth Hooter (Fred) of Kerrville, Texas; his grandchildren, Ashley Bates, Justin Hooter, Kendra Hooter, Jordan Bates and Christopher Cobb; his great grandchildren, Brooke Martinez, Adrian Casarez, Annalee Faith Bixler and Jolene Bates; and his close friend Dakota.
