He is survived by: his wife Elia Avila; his children, Edward Maldonado, Xavier Avila, Sylvia Poyner and Velma Avila Thompson; and his siblings, Loaquina Longoria, Elesia Avila Martinez, Leonarda Avila Martinez and Gerardo Avila Martinez. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren.
