He was predeceased by: his parents, John Ottis Lakey and Doris Agnes Gaston Lakey; and his brothers, Timmy Lakey and Johnny Lakey. He is survived by: his wife Denise Lakey; his sister Peggy Gilley of Lumberton; his nephew Doug Gilley (Stephanie) of Silsbee; his niece Lori Cobb (Paul) of Houston; his siblings-in-law, Darrell Foret of Beaumont, Durwood Foret of Beaumont, Dustan Foret (Malinda) of Arkansas, Dorinda Taylor (Larry) of Florida and Dwaina Sechrist (Keith) of Lumberton; his stepchildren, Kelly Fussell of LaGrange, DeAnna Crouch (Jay D.) of Flatonia and Deano Salles (Erika) of Beaumont; and his grandchildren, Brooke Tuter (Chad) of Mauriceville, Kimberlyn Salles of LaGrange, Jason Fussell of LaGrange, Wyatt Crouch of Flatonia, James Salles of Beaumont and Simon Salles of Beaumont. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home (1155 N 11th St, Beaumont, TX 77702). A funeral service was held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
