He was predeceased by: his parents, Louise Handley Pate and Clifford Phillip Pate; his brother John Thomas Pate; and his brothers-in-law, Murry Buller and Doug David.

He is survived by: his wife Emerchel Collins Pate of Lufkin; his children, Laura Pate Whitworth (Johnny) of Spring, Amy Pate Moss (Craig) of Cypress and Thomas Collins Pate (Stephanie Felts Pate) of Baytown; his grandchildren, Holly Whitworth Todd, Joshua Whitworth, Sam Whitworth, Mary Katherine Whitworth Medlin (Price), Michael Moss (Alexandra) and David Moss; his great grandchildren, Anna Claire Todd, Jansen Todd, John Todd, Macy Whitworth and William Medlin; and his sisters, Jenny Buller of Cypress, Mary Pate of Barnes and Cathy David of Barnes. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, December 18th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Carroway Funeral Home (2704 S John Redditt Dr, Lufkin, TX 75904). A funeral service was held on Thursday, December 19th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Christ Congregational Church (105 Saddle Creek Dr, Lufkin, TX 75904).
