Kenneth Perkins Obituary
A memorial lunch for Kenneth Allen "Ken" Perkins, 68, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, March 11, 2023 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Rock House in Lufkin. RSVP to [email protected]. Ken was born August 31, 1954 in Mercedes, Texas to Joyce Marie (Swander) and Morris Elmo Perkins and passed away Monday, November 21, 2022 in Houston, Texas.
Ken grew up in Donna and Weslaco, Texas. He would often talk about his memories, boy scouts, hunting, fishing, and going to the Alaskan in Mexico with high school buddies. He enjoyed golf, travel, all things WWII in the Pacific Theater, and flying.
He had a full life that included being a firefighter, paramedic and a peace officer. After retiring from them, he was a breathing air compressor and airpak technician who traveled Texas, Louisiana, Alaska, and many other places around the United States to take care of Air Paks systems to keep firefighters safe while fighting fires. His love for his brother volunteer firefighters was big. He did all he could to help the smaller departments. After he retired, he enjoyed sitting on the porch watching YouTube and TikTok and working in his shop. He also had the time for honey do's, vacations, and driving "Miss Daisy".
Ken leaves behind wife, Lylekay McHaney of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-laws, Tammy and Sean Waters of Boerne, Tracy and Joseph Hare of San Marcos; grandchildren, Dolan and Ashton Waters and Ethan and Piper Hare; stepchildren, Karen Ybarra and Reagan McHaney, both of Lufkin; lifelong best friend, Bobby McNabney of Corpus Christi; mother, Joyce Perkins of Huntsville; sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Scott Hubbard of Stafford; brother, Doug Perkins of Huntsville; lots of friends at MES and the fire departments he visited; special friends, Sarah Burnett, Paula Coons, and Esmeralda Chavez.
He was preceded in death by his father, Morris Elmo Perkins.
Any memorial donations should be made to your local fire department or PTSD Camp Hope.
