He was predeceased by: his parents, Travis Houston Stone and Vonie Lee Stone (Mitchell); his son James Herman Stone, Jr.; his grandchildren, Gracie Massey and James Evan Stone; his brothers, Dalton Stone and Travis Eugene Stone; his father-in-law Cecil Cummings; his stepfather-in-law Sam Martin (Sadie Martin); and his brother-in-law Carson Cummings.
He is survived by: his wife Gerry Sue Stone (Cummings); his daughters, Karen Ainsworth and Kelley (Ken Massey) of Lufkin; his grandchildren, Bryan Skelton (Britta) of Lufkin, Lacey Bell (Leslie) of Lufkin, Damon Malnar (Brittney) of Lufkin, Tiffany Hebert (Adam) of Lufkin, Jonathan Romo (Sylvia) of Lufkin, James Stone III (Courtney) of Lufkin and Jamie Sue Stone of Lufkin; his great grandchildren, Kamryn Skelton of Lufkin, Brylee Skelton of Lufkin, Ciera Jo Skelton of Lufkin, Jacob Malnar of Lufkin, Logan Hawthorne of Lufkin, Kaydence Malnar of Lufkin, Bobby Malnar of Lufkin, Lane Malnar of Lufkin, Abigail Bell of Lufkin, James Hughes Romo of Lufkin, Addyson Gray of Lufkin, Penny Stone of Lufkin and Keomie McFarland of Lufkin; and his siblings, David Stone and Glenda Terrell.
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 6th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Shafer Funeral Home (600 N John Redditt Dr, Lufkin, TX 75904-0353). A graveside service was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Wallace Chapel Cemetery.
