She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Hamilton and Lela Hamilton; her husband Deacon J. D. Houston Sr.; her children, Elder Don Amecha, Jacqueline Dominique and Evangelist Carolyn Lynn; her siblings, Louis, Gratist, Ezra, Ulysses, Luretha, Ruth, Ida Mae, Mozell and Eddie; her grandchildren, Effae Angelic and Orlando Marcellus; and her great grandchild Halle.
She is survived by: her children, Eric Allen Sr. (Julia), Francis Michael, Barbara Ann, Ester Ruth, Brenda Sue and Sandra Ann; and her sister Ophelia Wortham. She is also survived by thirty-three grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, cousins, nephews, nieces, friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, March 21st 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Woods Memorial Temple Church (230 Leach St, Lufkin, TX 75904). A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 22nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church (410 Scarborough St, Lufkin, TX 75904).
