He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Baum and Audry Baum (Buechting). He is survived by: his wife Shirley; his children, Tammy and Jim Head; and his grandchildren, Letney, Loren Head (Cory), Alaina, Lane (Paige), John (Kate) and Davy.

A memorial service was held on Friday, November 15th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Shafer Funeral Home (600 N John Redditt Dr, Lufkin, TX 75904-0353).

In Lieu of flowers, donations to Don's favorite charity are appreciated: St. Luke's Children's Hospital, Tunnel to Towers Foundation, and Hospice in the Pines.
