He was predeceased by: his parents, Alma Velma (Scott) and Hollis Othela Mills; his son Charles Stephen Mills; his granddaughters, Melissa Renè Simmons and Lerin Hill; and his siblings, Hollis Edwin Mills and Martha Malone.

He is survived by: his wife Linda Mills (Scarborough) of Lufkin; his daughters, Phyllis Ann (Bobby Barfield), Suzy (Doug Kervin) and Carla Dianne Adams of Hampton, Virginia; and his grandchildren, Lanton (Mandy Chumley), Jeremy (Ashley Hamilton), Christy Cantero, Bruce (Danielle Chumley), Aaron (Kelsey Adams), Madison (Fischer Martin) and Brandon (Melissa Dawson). He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held on Monday, November 18th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Carroway Funeral Home (2704 S John Redditt Dr, Lufkin, TX 75904). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 19th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Watch Video Carroway Funeral Home (2704 S John Redditt Dr, Lufkin, TX 75904).
