He was predeceased by: his parents, Lydia Rufail and Megalla Rufail; and his brothers, Tawfik and Nessim. He is survived by: his wife Dr. Marcil Rufail; his children, Suzy Chiaramonte (Perry), Michael (Hannah) and Mark (Charlotte); and his sister Dmiana "Soheir" Rufail. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
