He was predeceased by: his parents, Homer Hamilton and Stella Cochran Hamilton; his daughter Debbie Lynn Hamilton; his grandson Joshua Wayne Hamilton; and his siblings, Laura Mears and Donnie Hamilton.
He is survived by: his wife Peggy Henson Hamilton of Lott; his son Alton Wayne Hamilton Jr. (Sandra) of LaPorte; his grandchildren, Jessica Othon (Gabe), Christian Thomas and Victoria Hatley (Adam); and his great grandchildren, Sebastian Hatley, Camila Hatley, Jayden Richner and Piper Othon.
Memorials may be made to the Lott Volunteer Fire Department.
