Brooks Sr. (Regina) and Velvet K. Brooks; his wife Mammie Lois Crain; his stepmother Robbie Brooks; his grandchildren, Afton "Shay" Brown (Thurman), James Brooks Jr., Monique Wells, Chase Wells, Macorian Dawkins, Kemerie, Jace and Harlym; his sister Virginia Alexander; and his friend Carl Boyd, Sr.. He is also survived by his wife's family, and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
