He is survived by: his siblings, Curry Gene Nelms, Jr. and Bonnie Sue Nelms; his children, Lance Chick of Midlothian, Texas and Stacy Kay; his son-in-law Jeff Avalos of Denton; his granddaughter Skylar Avalos; his siblings-in-law, Toni Nelms of Stephenville, Texas and Ken Matthews of Carlton, Texas; his nieces and nephews, Alan, Andrew, Brittany, Anna, Alyssa and Lexi; his great-nephew Travis; his great-niece Addison; and his former wife Dawn Freeman.
