He was predeceased by: his parents, Braulio Ortiz and Rose Escalante Ortiz; his siblings, Ramona Romero, Elvira Ramirez, Ben Ortiz, Mary Helen O'Balle, Ofelia Castillo, Juan Ortiz, Joe Ortiz and Cruz Ortiz; and his granddaughter Kaitlyn Mendez.
He is survived by: his children, John Paul Castillo, Carolina Ortiz, Samantha Ortiz (Jonathan), Abigail Ortiz (Mario) and Marisol Castillo; his siblings, Cesario Ortiz, Ernest Ortiz, Albert Ortiz, Lupe Ancira and Ester Ortiz; his grandchildren, Biviana Zapata, Courtney Mendez, Corey Mendez, Jonathan Aguilar, Jerimiah Aguilar, Nathan Aguilar, Ethan Aguilar, Mario Gonzales Jr., Alize Gonzales, Maximus Gonzales, Makayla Gonzales and Timothy Castillo; and his great grandchildren, Anthony Lerma and Joe Ramirez.
