He was predeceased by: his parents, Jose Escobedo and Angelina Ramirez; and his sister Ophelia Rendon. He is survived by: his wife Monica Ramirez; his sister Elisa Ramirez; and his children, Lee Garcia (Teresa), Philip Ramirez (Deborah), Joseph Thomas Ramirez, J. D. Valenzuela (Robbie), Patricia Ann Ramirez, Maricela Ramirez Delcid (Orlando) and Angela Padilla (Robert). He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews.
