He was predeceased by: his children, Diane Ortiz, Mario Ortiz Sr. and David Ortiz, Jr.; his granddaughter Angie Mendez; and his siblings, Thomasa Ortiz and Charles Ortiz Valdez.
He is survived by: his wife Estelle F. Rodriguez Ortiz; his children, Raquel Ortiz, Mary Ortiz, Tony Ortiz of Lockhart, Manuel Ortiz of Lockhart and James Ortiz of Lockhart; and his sisters, Aurora Ortiz Garcia, Beatrice Ortiz Gonzales and Gloria Ortiz Cardenas. He is also survived by eight granddaughters, five grandsons and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
