He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd Edward Gates and Elma Rhea Gates (Hartless); and his siblings, John, Jerry, Harwood Gates and Mary Alice Gates.
He is survived by: his wife Wanda Gates of Livingston; his daughter Tonya Wright; his granddaughter Destiny Gentry of Livingston; and his siblings, Williams Gates (Linda) of Lufkin, Marty of Livingston, Troy Gates of Livingston, Donna Rabel (Darrell) of Cut, Ricky Lynn Putman of Conroe and Woody Gates (Kimberly) of Conroe.
